About our Weather and Climate
West Virginia has four seasons: Spring (March thru May); Summer (June
thru August); Fall (September thru November) and Winter (December thru
February). Winters in Huntington are mild and summers are warm. In the
central, more mountainous areas of the state, winters are colder, with
a greater probability of snow, and summers are mild. Precipitation across
the state averages 40 to 60 inches per year; roughly 25 of the days in
an average year show a lot of precipitation. Snowfall averages 20 to 25
inches per year in most of the state, except for the central, more mountainous
areas, which receive significantly more.
